- Prize label affixed verso; newspaper clipping [AAP obit Sir Ian Hamilton] pasted to second leaf with offset to ffep; burgundy full leather boards with gilt decorations and titling; rubbing to extremities; top of spine with 1cm damage; all edges gilt; xi, 362pp, 17 photographic plates, 16 maps & sketches; some maps with foxing at folds; foldout at end with 25mm tear nr hinge [not intruding on map]; a very good copy
- After this printing a second volume was printed, essentially relegating this to Vol 1 [only] of 2
- Sir Ian Hamilton later commanded the disastrous campaign at Gallipoli which effectively ended his military career
