• First Printing [John Lehmann, London, 1950]; 192 pages; pink cloth, gold titling to spine, faint dampstain along front base, cloth frayed at corners of rear board, a few spots around block bleeding slightly onto margins, some light signs of handling [occasional grubby mark], an excellent copy; in like illustrated, unclipped [10s.6d.net] dustjacket, rubbed & chipped, missing large portion on rear panel, small piece approx 1cm x 3cm missing from front & impacting title
• First book from Elizabeth David, who would go on to become one of the culinary world’s most influential writers
• A Book Of Mediterranean Food was printed in quite small numbers as David was then rather unknown – this First Edition is thus scarce, especially in such excellent condition
