• Keenly sought, this edition rarely comes on to the open market, even less commonly with complete original dustjacket
• With numerous b&w illustrations by the author
• Originally published in Swedish by Finnish author & illustrator Jansson [as Kometjakten, in 1946]
• Translated by Elizabeth Portch
• First Printing [Ernest Benn, London, 1951]; 192 pages; pale yellow cloth, red illustration to front board, titling to spine, faint marks, light spotting to page block, front free endpaper professionally replaced, occasional signs of handling, an excellent copy; in very good illustrated dustjacket, price-clipped, edges rubbed, corners chipped with most pronounced loss being 1cm triangular loss to bottom corner & top spine, mottled foxing showing as darkened rear panel, evident on front illustration
